YOGA on the island of Lesvos

We can offer you an experience of Kundalini yoga during your holiday on Lesvos.  If you have never tried yoga before or not tried this kind of yoga, our workshop ‘An Introduction to Kundalini yoga’ is suitable for anyone, any age (over 16 years of age); everyone can benefit from it.  If you are an experienced yogi, a more in-depth programme will be taught, not too challenging (you are on holiday after all!) but providing you with something perhaps a little different from your usual style of yoga.

Yoga workshops are 3 hours long; they take place in the morning or the early evening.  It is best to eat very lightly beforehand and to wear loose, comfortable clothing (no jeans or tight belts) in layers that you can take off as it gets warmer and put on as you cool down and relax.  Yoga is practiced barefoot.

We cater for 1 or 2 persons at a time and yoga mats and other equipment will be provided. The workshop will include a short break, water and Yogi tea is available during and after the session.  The cost is 30 € per person.

Yoga Workshops can be arranged at your accommodation provided there is a suitable area free from distractions; otherwise they will take place in Skala Polichnitou at the home of your teacher.

Your Kundalini yoga instructor for the workshop is Barbara Lyndley; an experienced yogi who has been teaching Kundalini yoga for ten years, in the UK and in Greece.  Barbara also leads Kundalini yoga holidays and retreats here on Lesvos see here or at the bottom of the page.

Workshops will be taught in English and a good understanding of the language is recommended to gain the most from your experience.

KUNDALINI YOGA - WHAT TO EXPECT?

Kundalini is a more holistic form of yoga than others on offer today. It’s techniques are profoundly transformational and can work very rapidly.  It is taught by voice, not by means of bodily adjustments, and everyone moves at their own pace discovering their personal inward journey.

The practice of Kundalini Yoga combines several elements all of which are brought into every session.

Every session will incorporate

- breathing exercises,

- physical postures,

- hand positions (called mudras),

- sound  (in the form of mantras, music, singing and/or chant), and meditation

This combination of elements is called a ‘Kriya’, which means a set of exercises designed to work together, sometimes for a specific purpose.  The overall purpose of Kundalini yoga is to raise the energy of the individual and connect it with the universal energy. The exercises raise awareness of our self, allowing us to merge our individual consciousness with the universal consciousness. We are all one.

Sessions may last between 1.5 and 2 hours. They will usually end with deep relaxation during which time the body will assimilate the benefits of the Kriya. You may feel different, more relaxed, possibly emotional, as a result of the increased energy and sense of connection you may experience.

No previous experience of yoga is required.
